A stand-alone DVD players can play VCD and SVCD can. You have to burn the AVI file in these formats on a CD-R, so that your DVD player can be read.

Nero Vision to convert AVI to DVD, but I had some problems with this program. WinAVI Video Converter does a better job of this task. Will WinAVI AVI to DVD.

Step 1: Click on the "DVD" on the main screen, or you can click the menu button on the main window, select "any-to-DVD" format in the submenu of the "conversion" and then pop up Program Select "File." Thus, please choose the desired AVI file converter.

Step 2: Output directory: You can click the Browse button to the output directory.

Step 3: Select encoder: You can dial the DVD mode. If you're ready, click "Start" OK "conversion.

Needed Note: The DivX codec to encode AVI files. Download and install the DivX codec divx.com.

If your DVD player supports AVI, then you can burn the files on your hard drive and on your DVD player.

It is likely that your DVD player is compatible with AVI files. You may need to download a video converter online. I think most DVD players are compatible with the MPG files. You can use a test disc that has many kinds of files on them and see which will create a kind of DVD player to play.
